Review of AMC Independence Commons 20 Theater

Another failure, I didn’t get any interior shots. But trust me me, it’s much nicer now.

Location: Independence, MO

Date of Visit: October 12, 2024

Movie Seen: Saturday Night

Price: $26.74 for one person

One ticket for a Saturday morning showing was $10.24.

A regular popcorn and soda at all AMCs is $16.50.

Cleanliness: Very Clean. This theater received a complete overhaul a few years ago and it is in much better shape than it was. It was headed downhill fast, this facelift including lobby, seats, and hallway redesign made it one of the nicest looking AMCs in the KC area.

Comfy-Ness: The same goes for the seats. They were gross, cloth, and stiff. The new seats are the leather reclining seats. Very comfy, very spacious. Much like the B&B theater seats. All theaters should adopt these, if possible.

Food Quality: Popcorn is consistently great at this AMC. They also have multiple Freestyle Coca-Cola machines.

Overall 18/20.

Not sure why I am hesitant to score this higher. Maybe location? That area of 39th Street has gone downhill, but this theater at least wasn’t dragged down with it. Like I said before this theater was in bad shape.

Without this complete overhaul, this might’ve been the worst in the area. If you take pride in your work and community, you can make something nice. A friend used to work at this location. They got a new assistant manager from the Barrywoods location.

He tried to ensure the discipline they had at that theater in Independence, but his manager said “Relax, this is Independence.” Thankfully, this mentality has changed.

I’m glad to have a good quality theater so close.
